Union United’s efforts to ensure fairness in the redevelopment of Union Square were recently featured in Rooflines, the blog for Shelterforce.

 

Shelterforce is  “the nation’s oldest continually published housing and community development magazine. For more than three decades, Shelterforce has been a primary forum for organizers, activists, and advocates in the affordable-housing and neighborhood revitalization movements.”

 

Learning In: A Coalition Organizes for Equitable Redevelopment was written by Laurie S. Goldman, a professor of social policy and public and nonprofit management at Tufts University’s Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning.

 

The article details the displacement  impact that redevelopment will have on small businesses and the critical reasons why the coalition was formed.
